Destiny of a Dragon

Ryu ga Gotoku 3

The legendary dragon returns

The huge third installment in the series, set in Kamurocho and Okinawa. Released on the PlayStation 3.

Story

Two years have passed since the war between the Tojo Clan and Omi Alliance. Kazuma Kiryu spends his days managing an orphanage in Okinawa. Kiryu and Haruka, living with the orphans, become mixed up in a planned expansion to an American airbase and the construction of a resort. The plot of land on which the orphanage stands becomes involved in troubles regarding its purchase. A year later, Daigo Dojima, sixth chairman of the Tojo clan, is shot by an unknown assailant. The criminal witnessed perpetrating the deed is a dead ringer for the man who was like a father to Kiryu, Shintaro Kazama.

Commentary

Ryu ga Gotoku 3 was released exclusively on the PlayStation 3. Since Ryu ga Gotoku: Kenzan! was a spin-off, this game is the third in the series. RGG3 also employs a number of tie-ups with businesses in order to create a more realistic townscape. These involved 27 companies in total, including models from the magazine "Koakuma ageha" appearing as hostesses.

Unlike the previous fixed viewpoint, the player can now freely move the camera around 360°. Notable is the zoom feature, which gives the town a more realistic feel. The basic battle system is the same as always, but many new features were added, such as "seamless battles", allowing for smooth transition into battle, and "chase battles", in which you chase and are chased by enemies.

The new area of Okinawa was also added. Through high-quality CG, its sea, vegetation and atmosphere are faithfully replicated. The Ryukyu district, reproducing Okinawa's townscape, is a must-see. The series' familiar play spots and substories have also evolved. Newly-added karaoke allows you to passionately perform songs, or clap along in time with Haruka's cute singing.
