This is a timeline of important events that have occurred in the world of the Ryu ga Gotoku series, including both the numbered games and spinoffs. The Tojo Clan attacks the Jingweon, killing almost all including the boss. Jiro Kawara, in charge of the case, takes in the wife of the Jingweon boss, Jeong Suyeon, and her son (later Ryuji Goda)

Sakamoto Ryoma infiltrates Kyo under the assumed name of Saito Hajime in order to avenge Yoshida Toyo, joining the Shinsengumi

Sakamoto Ryoma clashes with his former friend, Takechi Hanpeita. He defeats the culprit, Yamauchi Yodo, at Kochi Castle

Kazuma Kiryu and Akira Nishikiyama exchange sake with Sohei Dojima and enter the world of the yakuza

Taiga Saejima attacks the Ueno Seiwa Clan. He murders 18 members, and receives the death penalty

Goro Majima has a conflict of opinions with the Tojo Clan after outcry caused by his friend, Taiga Saejima. Afterwards, he is handed over to the Sagawa Family of the Omi Alliance and made to work as the manager of a hostess club

Start of the "Kamurocho 21st Century Redevelopment Plan". Outbreak of the "empty plot" dispute

Goro Majima marries Park Mirei. Park later divorces him to continue her idol career

Kazuma Kiryu is tortured by Snake Flower. Shintaro Kazama comes to his aid and sustains a serious leg injury after being attacked by a group member

Akira Nishikiyama kills Sohei Dojima, head of the Tojo Clan-affiliated Dojima Family. Kazuma Kiryu takes the fall for Nishikiyama and spends 10 years in prison for murder

Tatsuya Ukyo's mother is killed as the result of an arson. A girl who loses her father in the same incident (later Saeko Ukyo) is adopted into the Ukyo family and the two become step-siblings

Kazuma Kiryu is attacked by an assassin while incarcerated

Yumi Sawamura enters into common-law marriage with Kyohei Jingu and gives birth to Haruka

Tatsuo Shinada hits a match-winning home run at his first time at the plate after being promoted to the first team. Afterwards he is permanently exiled on suspicion of involvement with baseball gambling

2001
Daigo Dojima falls into the Omi Alliance's trap and is sent to prison for 5 years for violation of the Swords and Firearms Control Law

2005
Shun Akiyama is framed for embezzlement by his boss and dismissed from Toto Bank. Despite his best efforts, he fails to prove his innocence and is left homeless

Kazuma Kiryu's sentence ends and he is released from prison

10 billion yen is stolen from the Tojo Clan, and its third chairman, Masaru Sera, is assassinated. As per Sera's will and Kazama's recommendation, Kazuma Kiryu becomes the fourth chairman. He retires immediately thereafter, leaving Kamurocho with Haruka Sawamura and living as a normal citizen

Shun Akiyama picks up money that flutters down from the Millennium Tower. He uses this as capital to establish the consumer finance business Sky Finance

Out of the Tojo Clan affiliates that have lost their leaders, Osamu Kashiwagi becomes boss of the Kazama Family and Koji Shindo assumes his role as second boss of the Nishikiyama Family

Yoshitaka Mine is introduced to the Tojo Clan by Tsuyoshi Kanda, third head of the Tojo Clan affiliated Nishikiyama Family, and joins. He later establishes the Hakuho Clan and becomes a Tojo Clan affiliate

Tetsuo Tamashiro, head of the Tamashiro Family, kidnaps Saki, adopted daughter of Ryudo Family boss Shigeru Nakahara. This incident causes a friendly relationship to develop between Kazuma Kiryu and the Ryudo Family

Tatsuya Ukyo is sent to reform school for the crime of inflicting bodily harm

2009
Shigeru Nakahara and Daigo Dojima are shot. It later comes to light that weapons smuggling ring Black Monday is involved. Part of the Tojo Clan's families are destroyed by Kiryu, quieting the in-fighting. After the incident's conclusion Go Hamazaki, as revenge for having lost everything, stabs Kiryu and is apprehended

2010
Taiga Saejima is transferred to Okinawa Penitentiary #2. Afterwards, he escapes with Go Hamazaki. He heads for Majima, his sworn brother, in order to learn the truth of the Yoshiharu Ueno shooting

Hiroaki Arai, second in command of Kanemura Enterprises, shoots Masaru Ihara, a deputy underboss of the Ueno Seiwa Clan. The Tojo Clan and Ueno Seiwa Clan come into conflict. This develops into a huge incident into which even the police's top brass are dragged

After the incident's conclusion, Taiga Saejima establishes the Tojo Clan affiliated Saejima Family with the endorsement of Kiryu and Majima

In order to atone for his past sins, Taiga Saejima turns himself in to the police and is imprisoned at Abashiri Prison

2010
Tatsuya Ukyo attacks Chinese restaurant Zhao Yue. He is captured by the Kuki Family, of which the restaurant's owner is a member, and thrown into the underground arena, Dragon Heat. Achieving an unheard of winning streak of 10 victories, he also arrives at the truth behind the incident

Park Mirei meets Haruka Sawamura. Enchanted by Haruka's talent, Park passes Shun Akiyama's test and succeeds in receiving funds to grant her dream

Zombies suddenly appear in Kamurocho. A giant wall is built and the danger zone sealed off. Kazuma Kiryu, Goro Majima, Ryuji Goda and Shun Akiyama defeat Oikazuchi Omega when it appears at the Millennium Tower. The Kamurocho zombie outbreak is suppressed

2012
Haruka Sawamura heads to Osaka with Park to become an idol. Not wanting to get in the way of Haruka's dream, Kiryu moves to Fukuoka and becomes a taxi driver in the Nagasu District under the assumed name of Taichi Suzuki

Reports spread that the seventh chairman of the Omi Alliance, Tsubasa Kurosawa, is on the brink of death. Tensions heighten between the Tojo Clan and Omi Alliance. Later, an East vs West war is triggered that involves five major cities

Taiga Saejima returns to Abashiri Prison in order to atone for his sins. Haruka Sawamura confesses all at her concert and retires from the entertainment industry

Kansai underground fighting organisation Ashura invades Kamurocho. In order to protect Dragon Heat, Tatsuya Ukyo abandons his quest to debut as a professional boxer and returns to the underground ring once more
