One of the current lords of the Belli family castle (the castle where Fiona is trapped).
He is the thirteenth-generation clone of Aurelous Belli, an alchemist from the middle ages. He created Ugo and Riccardo in order to pass along his Azoth into his next life. He could be called Ugo and Riccardo's father, though to be precise they are all the same person. He is extremely old, his eyesight weak, his legs useless, confined to a wheelchair.

After Ugo ran away he created a new clone (Riccardo), but this failed due to insufficient Azoth. He was unable to fulfil his mission, ageing in despair. Then he learned of Fiona's arrival, and began planning to reclaim her true Azoth and create a new clone.

He lives hidden away in the castle, which is really controlled by Riccardo, but is extremely persistent in his mission, plotting to do whatever it takes to get his hands on Fiona. He is sly and arrogant. The obstinacy from his ageing helps to turn his belief in alchemy somewhat insane.

In order to recover Fiona's Azoth before Riccardo does, it is he who has Daniella unlock the door to her cage and let Fiona escape from the basement. He carefully watches Fiona's every move, sometimes cooperating with Fiona as though to help her escape from the castle.
