Please forgive me for not writing you. I hope you are well.
I have secured lodgings at a place near our hometown, and my life here is finally beginning to get on track.
This is, of course, my first time in the city, but as merely venturing out of the village was such a rarity for me, I found it quite the ordeal to locate a place in which to settle.
Not only are there many learned scholars here, but also a bountiful collection of books I am permitted to peruse, so I think I shall stay here for some time. Whilst it seems as though I will be living in this manner for a while, I intend to write you whenever the opportunity presents itself.
You sent me off without hesitation when I told you that I wanted to leave the village, and yet my treatment of you has been inexcusable.
One day, once I have found a satisfactory answer to my question, I wish to return to the village. When I do so, I want to fulfil the promise I made to you back then.
